Inside a wire, electrons move in a random path and collide with each other as well as the heavy lattice of the atoms. But this movement of electrons takes place till no Electric Field is applied. When electric field is applied, they allign themselves to move in a particular direction that is opposite to the direction of applied Electric Field as a result current is constituted.
