  1. A process has an input as the flow q  gal/min, and an output temperature T Fahrenheit. Initially, the process has been operating for long time at input flow 610  gal/min and  output  temperature 180 Fahrenheit.

An operator introduces a step change in the flow rate (q) to a given process at 4:00 O’clock  A.M. He changed the flow from 610 gal/min to 650 gal/min. The effect of the input change resulted in a change in the output. The first change in the temperature occurred at 4:20 O’clock A.M. Then the temperature increased fast, and then slowly reached steady-state value of 220 Fahrenheit . The operator noticed that there is no change in the output after 4:44 O’clock A.M.

Given the above data,

find the first-order (possibly with time-delay) approximation of the transfer function from the flow to the temperature. Find  for the model.

and simulate the first order function and response by Matlab
