The healthcare information system is helpful in maintaining a database, storing, managing and efficient retrieval of data in order to create information and utilise it for the delivery. It helps in sound decision making and real-time effective delivery for the cases which may require special attention. For example:

1. A doctor may use the last 1-year data history of a patient to check and consult the patient. He may choose to have a corrective course of action or may stop the medication if they are not affecting.

2. A doctor may also check a patient's medical history before coming to consult him. he may first check him on the basis of past ailment.

3. A HIS can also include simple tasks like patient registration and data retrieval, payments and prescription certification.
