Answer #1

net displacement in x-direction = d1 cos(theta1) - d2 cos(theta2-theta1) - d3 cos(theta3+theta2-theta1) = -1.103 m

net displacement in y-direcion = d1 sin(theta1) + d2 sin(theta2-theta1) - d3 sin(theta3+theta2-theta1) = -6.5815 m

magnitude of displacement = sqrt( (-1.103)^2 + (6.5815)^2 ) = 6.6733 m

angle of displacement = arctan(-6.5815/-1.103) = -100.3444 degrees

The figure shows the path taken by a drunk skunk over level ground, from initial point i to final point f. The angles are θ1 = 31.0°, θ2 = 52.0°, and θ3 = 77.0°, and the distances are d1 = 5.70 m, d2 = 8.80 m, and d3 = 14.0 m. The figure gives the path of a squirrel moving about on level ground, from point A (at time t-O), to points B (at t = 5 min), C (at t = 10 min), and finally D (att-15 min). Consider the average velocities of the squirrel from point A to each of the other three points. Of them, what are the (a) magnitude and (b) angle of the one with the least magnitude and (c) the magnitude and (d) angle of...

HW02#2 Four Projectiles Four projectiles are all shot over level ground. The projectiles are launched at four different angles, 20, 30, 45° and 60° above horizontal. There are four steps for this problem: A. Intuition, B. Computation, C. Validation, and D. Discussion 5° Intuition: In the table, use your intuition (not computations!) to evaluate the greatest "G" and least "L" scenarios for the set of 4 angles below for the following criteria (1) same horizontal range, (2) same maximum height,...
