Question

The wheels, ade, and handles of a wheelbarrow weigh w-64 N·The load chamber and its contents weigh w -510 N. The drawing shows these two forces in two different wheelbarrow designs. To support the wheelbarrow in equilibrium, the mans hands apply a force to the handles that is rotation al axis at the point where the tire contacts the ground, directed perpendicular to the plane of the paper. Find the magnitude of the mans force for both designs. 0.400 m 0.700 m 0.200 m 600 m 0.700 (a) F (b) F

Answer #1

(A) balancing moment about wheel point,

(0.400 x 510) + (0.600 x 64) - ( (0.6 + 0.7)F) = 0

F = 186.5 N

(B) (0 x 510) + (0.600 x 64) - ( (0.6 + 0.7)F) = 0

F = 29.5 N
