SN mechanisms
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time in advance.
In SN1 reaction, carbocation is formed as Intermediate and since tertiary carbocation is more stable than secondary carbocation which is more stable than primary carbocation. Hence, tertiary Alkyl halide (halogen containing carbon is attached to three carbons) react faster than secondary (halogen containing carbon is further attached to two carbons) which react faster than primary (halogen containing carbon is further attached to one carbon only). For SN2, order is reverse because it depends on steric hinderance.
1) Answer is d). Because d is tertiary Alkyl halide.
2) Answer is A). Because it is primary Alkyl halide.
3) Answer is D). Because I is good leaving group.

Draw Lewis structures for 4 di fferent compounds using any combination of the atoms H, C, N, and O. Examples would include H,CO or CH,NO. Include one cation and one anion among your four compounds. Show all work on how you obtained these Lewis structures for full credit. No credit will be given for previous examples or H2, N2, O2, or C2.

What starting materials can be used to prepare the following diazo compounds? List the two starting materials and indicate "amine to b diazotized" and "reactant to be coupled with diazonium salt" for each section: A student diazotizes sulfanilic acid at 3-5 degree C but inadvertently allows the diazonium salt solution to warm to 20 degree C. He gets a very low yield of methyl orange. What...
