Answer :

The velocity distribution in the pipe and dynamic ashead (velocity head) is shown in the figure below,

As we move pitot tube up and down , the velocity reduces thus leads to reduction in the dynamic head (velocity head).

As we reaches Bottom of the channel, the velocity becomes zero and hence dynamic head becomes zero ( h=0).
