Answer #1

Low-stakes testing

Method of assessment where students are given multiple opportunities to try again, make mistakes and learn from those mistakes with low impact on students’ final grades or other educational outcomes.

Examples: Use of quiz methods, journaling

Medium-stakes testing

Method of assessment where students are given opportunities to attempt the test and in case they fail they can attempt again. It has impact on the final grades but due to the option of attempting it again the stakes are medium.

Examples: Multiple Choice Questions, Essay writing (with the option of attempting again in case score is low)

High-stakes testing

Method of assessment where students are given a test with a clear distinction between those who pass and fail and have consequences depending on the outcome.

Examples: Final projects, Multiple Choice Questions (The marks are final with no option of reversal)
