Answer #1

We know that speed of light, c = 3*10^8 m/s

distance between you and your friend = d = 10000 m

Now we know that:

time = distance/Velocity

t = d/c

t = 10000/(3*10^8) = 3.33*10^-5 sec

(If need answer in one significant figure, then approximate t = 3*10^-5 sec)

Let me know if you've any query.

    Please provide step by step directions on how you worked the problem out It was a dark and stormy night, when suddenly you saw a flash of lightning. Six and a half seconds later you heard the thunder. Given that the speed of sound in air is about 340 m/s, how far away was the lightning bolt? (Ignore the travel time for the flash of light.)

    Your friend is about to drive away after moving out and you notice that they left behind their basketball, so you decide to throw it at a 45 degree from the horizontal towards the truck. If the truck is 7.3 m away from you, at what speed must you throw the ball for it to make it into the truck? Assume you launch the ball at the same height as the truck bed. Suppose you and your friend Alanis live, together with n − 2 other people, at a popular off-campus cooperative apartment, the Upson Collective. Over the next n nights, each of you is supposed to cook dinner for the co-op exactly once, so that someone cooks on each of the nights. Of course, everyone has scheduling conflicts with some of the nights (e.g., exams, concerts, etc.), so deciding who should cook on which night becomes a tricky task. For concreteness, let’s...

    Topic IVB: Momentum carried by an electromagnetic wave You are on a spacewalk on the International Space Station. You get separated from the station, and try to use your space suit's rockets to push you back. Unfortunately, they run out of fuel. Now you are a distance of 23.5 m from the station, with zero speed relative to the station. You are carrying a 210 W flashlight. You decide to turn on the flashlight and use it as a "light...

    Suppose you really like dogs and so wanted to have a bitcoin address with the letters “dog” in that order in the first 4 digits of the hash (excluding the prefix). That is, you don’t mind if there is at least one other letter that isn’t part of that string. So for example, the strings “doge”, “adog” and “doag” would all be fine. However, the letters of “dog” do have to be in order, so “dgoa” would not work. How...

    8. Suppose you and your lab partner each go to repeat the experiment. You take 4g of NaHCO3 and 4g of CaCl2 and dump them both simultaneously into your calorimeter that is filled with 400mL of water. Then you carefully measure the change in temperature. In a separate experiment, your partner first dissolves 4g of NaHCO3 into 200mL of water and then dissolves 4g of CaCl2 into a different 200mL of water. He then combines both solutions into an empty...

    Suppose a friend is completing another physics assignment in their chair at their desk and you take the opportunity to turn this scenario into the physics question you now must complete. Your friend and chair have a combined constant moment of inertia of 5.2 kg m2, and the chair can freely rotate. Now your friend picks up two solid bricks (each of mass 1.2 kg) they accidentally collected from one of the campus buildings, and experiment with rotational kinematics. Supposing...
