Answer #1

1. As technology is evolving and getting advanced, information system is getting integrated as a critical part of our everyday life. In such a scenario, it is important to have an insight about the ethical and security issues being posed by such an integration and dependency.

The ethical challenges posed by information system and maintenance of technical data, are as follows:

  • Privacy rights of the users may be compromised
  • The data of an individual’s system may get prone to malicious attacks and cyber crimes
  • Copyright and IP infringement may become common
  • The advancement in technology has potential to cause digital divide

If I were a manager responsible for maintaining technical data in the company, I would incorporate the following steps in my organization:

  • All data of the customers and employees will be stored on the cloud
  • Various layers of protection like encryption as well as data access control can be integrated in the system
  • Limited access of data and information must be given to individuals
  • Dedicated and updated firewalls and digital security to protect all systems at the company

2. Every system comes with basic requirements of information and data, which must be fulfilled to facilitate its smooth functioning. Usually companies collect data and information and store it over the cloud. For system requirements, the data is retrieved from the cloud and is fed to the system. The data and information must be processed before being stored in cloud. This helps in maintaining accuracy and credibility of the system.

3. E-waste is nothing but the old technology laced equipments, which have been discarded by the users. This includes mobile phones, laptops, tv, dvd players, etc. In the 21st century and with the evolution of technology, the versions of these electronic equipments are released in an agile atmosphere, at quite a tremendous pace. This has increased the rate of release of e-waste in the environment.

E-waste is usually considered quite dangerous. The primary reason being that e-waste really quite toxic gases and hazardous substances in the environment. Some of such substances are mercury, lead and cadmium. These can impact the overall environmental sustainability of the society. It can have ill effect on the mental and physical stability of the humans. Hence release of e-waste in the society is quite alarming. Though recycling of e-waste is possible, it is quite labor and equipment intensive. The time taken for such a process is also quite lengthy and the process is complicated and quite costly. Hence the recycling of e-waste is not a common affair and has not given substantial results.
