Answer #1

Relation Between Electric field F and ELectric force F as F = Eq

E = F/q

Elecric field E = 3.7 e -4 /(2.1 e -10)

E = 1.76 e 6 N/C

    One type of ink-jet printer, called an electrostatic ink-jet printer, forms the letters by using deflecting electrodes to steer charged ink drops up and down vertically as the ink jet sweeps horizontally across the page. The ink jet forms33.0 μm −diameter drops of ink, charges them by spraying 800,000 electrons on the surface, and shoots them toward the page with a horizontal velocity of 23.0 m/s. Along the way, the drops pass through the long axis of two parallel electrodes...

    Electrically neutral ink droplets in an ink-jet printer pass through an electron beam created by an electron gun, as shown in the figure above. Some electrons are captured by the ink droplet, so that it becomes charged. After passing through the electron beam, the net charge of the ink droplet is ? ink drop =−1×10^-10C. How many electrons are captured by the ink droplet? A. −6×10^8 B. 6×10^8 C. 1.6×10^-29 D. 1.6×10^-9 Ink droplet electrons

    The deflection plates of an ink-jet printer are set up horizontal and parallel one above the other; both are square, of side 4.0 cm. They are charged such that the electric field in the region between them is uniform, pointing vertically downwards, and of magnitude 10.0 × 106 NC–1. An ink drop of mass 5.0 × 10–10 kg and charge –1.0 × 10–13 C enters the region between the plates, travelling horizontally at 25 ms–1 parallel to a side of...

    You are developing a new guidance mechanism for an ink-jet printer. You know that these printers use a deflecting electric field to cause charged ink drops to form letters on a page. You believe that a circular arc of charge, mounted in the xy-plane, is needed to produce an electric field in order to deflect the ink droplets most efficiently from their original path along the z-axis. You want to use a uniformly charged arc that subtends an angle 2θ...

    In an inkjet printer, letters and images are created by squirting drops of ink horizontally at a sheet of paper from a rapidly moving nozzle. The pattern on the paper is controlled by an electrostatic valve that determines at each nozzle position whether ink is squirted onto the paper or not. The ink drops have a mass m = 1.00×10−11 kg each and leave the nozzle and travel horizontally toward the paper at velocity v = 15.0 m/s . The...
