Question

An 85 kg person jumps from the top of a building. They swing from a 7 meter rope attached to an adjoining building at their same elevation. The adjoining building has a large void in the structure, 4 meters below where the rope is attached. Assuming the rope doesnt stretch and neglecting air resistance, determine the velocity of the person and the tension in the rope just before the rope comes in contact with the face of the adjoining building. Also, determine the velocity of the person and tension in the rope just before they come in contact with the horizontal overhang. Neglect the mass of the rope. (11.7 m/s, 2500 N, 8.86 m/s, 2220 N) 7 m 4 m
