Actions taken in response to climate change fall into 2 categories, adaptation and mitigation. Adaptations are ways that we adjust to the fact that things are changing. For example, people in many low lying coastal areas that experience more frequent flooding are building seawalls or relocating. Mitigations decrease the amount of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. For example, changing the diets of cows may decrease the amount of methane they release to the atmosphere.

Give one example of a way people respond to climate change. State whether your example is a mitigation or an adaptation.
