13) Visceral sensory area is located on the insula. The visceral sensory area receives input from the thalamus( ventral posterior nuclei). The visceral neurons transmit information from the internal organs to the central nervous system. The insula is a cortical structure located deep in the brain between the frontdl and the temporal lobes.
