Two long straight wires are parallel and 11 cm apart. They are to carry equal currents such that the magnetic field at a point halfway between them has magnitude 440 �T. How much current (in A) is needed?

Answer #1

If the currents are parallel then the field produced by one wire opposes that produced by the other.
So the field at the midpoint remains zero no matter what the current.

In the case of antiparallel currents

B = kI / R for each wire.
B = 2 kI / (0.055)
i = 0.055 B /( 2k) k =? m / A
