Question

A system initially at 54 degrees Celcius experiences a change to 53 degrees Celcius. Did the system experience an endothermic or exothermic change and why? O Endothermic because heat left the system O Endothermic because heat was put into the system O Exothermic because heat left the system O Exothermic because heat was put into the system O More information is needed to answer this

Answer #1

An increase in temperature is observed if the heat is evolved from the sytem. This means exothermic reaction leads to an increase in temperature.

Now if heat is absorbed into the system, the temperature will decrease.

Therefore, when temperature decreases from 54°C to 53°C, heat is put into the system and it is endothermic.
