- Liver has dual blood supply. It receives oxygen-rich blood from heaptic arteries and nutrient-rich blood (low in oxygen) from big blood vessel, portal vein.
- It is known as chemical processing factory of the body.
- It works as an accessory digestive organ.
- It is the most metabolically active organ of the human body and has various functions such as neutralizing toxins, manufacturing proteins and maintaning blood sugar level.
- It also has capacity to regenerate.

Hence, liver is the largest internal organ in the body.
