An object placed 35 cm away from a lens projects a real image equal to 55 cm behind the lens. What is the focal distance of the lens?
For the example above, what is the magnification of the lens?
Not exactly sure what equation to use. Please help, I will rate the best and clearest answer.
Distance from the object to the lens ,do= 35 cm
Distance from the image to the lens,di=-55 cm, Since on the same side of the lens negative sign is given
We need to find the focal length,
We know that the focal length ,1/f=1/do+1/di
i.e 1/f=1/35-1/55=0.0103
f=96.25 cm
magnification,m=-distance of the image from lens/distance of the object from the lens
so,m=-(-55)/(35)=1.57

An object placed 20 cm in front of a lens results in an image being formed 24 cm behind the lens. Each surface of the lens is convex (bulging away from the optical plane) with the same radius of curvature, and the index of refraction of the glass composing the lens is Tiens =1.4. What is the radius of curvature of either side of this lens (to the nearest tenth of a cm)? Note, once again, the focal length of...
