California and Iowa beacuse after a complementation test red flowered progeny is obtained from pink flowered parents . It shows that both have mutation in the same gene (gene responsible for red color) was not allowing flower color to be red and after cross due to complementations gene retains it's wild type phenotype and red colored flowers are produced .
