The members of each pair are carefully matched so that they are similar with respect to sex, age, and IQ and previous mathematic training. They had not yet studied multiplication. One member of each pair is randomly chosen and taught multiplication using method A. The other member of the pair is taught multiplication using method B. Test scores for the 20 children after the learning experience are as follow:
