Question

Two speakers generate harmonic sound waves that are in phase at 636 Hz. The speakers face the same direction. The speed of sound is 343 m/s. Find the phase difference between the two waves recelved at the following locations. (a) 4.20 m from each speaker rad (b) 2.40 m from one speaker and 3.56 m from the other 2.01 (c) 2.40 m from one speaker and 4.20 m from the othe rad 2.51 rad (d) 2.40 m from one speaker and 3.40 m from the other 12.6 Your response differs significantly from the correct answer. Rework your solution from the beginning and check each step carefully. rad

I've also tried 3.14 (pi) and 6.28 (2pi), but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm thinking the answer might be 0, but I want to see if anyone else gets that answer.

Answer #1

answer : according to question -

  \lambda = \frac{343}{686} = 0.5 m

for the last part, path difference is 3.4 - 2.4 = 1m, which is equal to 2\lambda . so, the phase difference is equal to either 0 or 12.56.

please enter 12.56. i think you will get right answer otherwise comment me.
