The cells become immortal and are used in continuous cell line culture in vitro. HeLa cells are used as an indicator of laboratory safety. They are used as a marker of sterilization of the lab equipments and also to study about the ability of the cell to freeze them, stopping their activity and bring able to warm them again for further study.
