Answer #1

29.

The answer is D. Enzymes that carry out the final step in digestion of proteins are secreted by the pancreas.

A) This statement is true. The enzymes like sucrose, maltose, lactose and alpha limiting dextrinase are produced by the epitheliall cells of small intestine. These enzymes produce monosaccharides(absorbable form) by cleaving the disaccharides. This is the final step of carbohydrates digestion.

B) This statement is true. As mentioned above, the absorbable form of carbohydrates is monosaccharides.

C) This statement is true. When the lactase activity in the small intestine is not sufficient to hydrolyse all ingested lactose, left over lactose enters the colon where it is fermented by the colonic bacteria.

D) This statement is false. The final step of digestion of protein is in small intesrine by Erepsin enzyme which cleaves peptones and polypeptides into amino acids and absorbable tripeptides and dipeptides.

E) This statement is true. As mentioned above, in protein digestion's last stage, absorbabe tripeptides, dipeptides and amino acids are formed.
