Applying law of conservation of energy,

Thermal energy of water= Potential energy of weight

m_{water}*c*\Delta T= m_{weight}*g*h

Rearranging the above equation in \Delta T and plugging the values,

We get \Delta T= m_{weight}*g*h/m_{water}*c

\Delta T= 100*9.8*1/0.4*4.2*10^{3}=0.583 degrees

The temperature of the water changes by 0.583 degrees
