A) Alexander is self-employed in his old job as a carpenter - employed. Being self employed as Carpenter he is earning so he will be counted in the labor force as employed

B) Alexander moves to Florida and begins looking for work. - unemployed. As Alexander did not get the job and still looking for a job, he will be in the labor force as unemployed

C) Alexander feels discouraged looking for work and stops applying for jobs- not in the labor force. As Alexander has given up looking for joining so he will no more be counted in the labor force so he is not in the labor force.

D) Alexander starts looking for work again. unemployed. Alexander has started looking for job but he has not got the job yet so he will be in the labor force as unemployed.

E) Alexander starts work at a new job. Employed. Alexander has started working so he will be in the labor force as employed.
