If (a, b) and (c,d) are endpoints of a line then midpoint is given by the formula:

\left (\frac{a+c}{2}, \frac{b+d}{2} \right )

So, midpoint of endpoints (-1,-3) and (3,-7) is:

\left (\frac{-1+3}{2}, \frac{-3+(-7)}{2} \right )= \left (\frac{2}{2}, \frac{-10}{2} \right )= \left (1,-5 \right )
