You invent a new lithium battery where the cathode and anode half-cells are exactly half the volume as the previous battery but the concentration of material inside the half-cells remains the same. Also, the battery voltage remains unchanged. Would anything change in terms of battery performance? If so, explain.

Answer #1

If a newly invented lithium battery with the cathode and anode half-cells are exactly half the volume as the previous battery but the concentration of material inside the half-cells are the same. and if voltage also unchanged. then battery backup will reduce. small size battery delivers less backup. because the total number of ions present in the new cell will be half as compared to the previous battery.

Given the half-cells: Ni/Ni+2 and Fe/Fe+2 Chose the anode and cathode. Calculate E° and ΔG° for this reaction. Calculate what the new cell potential (E) would be if the concentrations were [Ni+2] = 0.40 M and [Fe+2] = 0.30 M. Calculate how long you would have to run the battery at 6 amps to make the E drop by 0.03 volts, and calculate how many grams of anode you lose by that time. Using the equations: ΔG° = -nFE° ln...

Part A through H 1. [60 pts) A galvanic cell is a type of battery where the electrodes are immersed in different electrolyte solutions, which are connected by an ion-conducting bridge. Consider a galvanic cell with Al and Cu electrodes. The Al electrode is immersed in a solution containing a standard concentration of Al3+ ions and the Cu electrode is immersed in a solution containing a standard concentration of Cu* ions. External Circuit The standard reduction potentials for the half...

how would you go about solving this problem via using equations just looking for the equation order i should go about solving this problem In this experiment you will be using the two half reactions Cu?"/Cu and Zn2 /Zn. The standard electrode potential, E°, for these half reactions is +0.34V and-0.76V respectively, so the Nernst Equation for these half reactions is the following Cu ea)+2e - Cus) E - 0.34V 0.0592V Cu2+] 0.0592V Zn 2 Note that solids by definition...

6a. You have found a new protein of interest: this protein has a transmembrane domain (as predicted by hydropathy analysis). You want to confirm this and determine which portion of the protein is outside the cell and which portion is inside the cell. You begin with a protease protection assay, the results are below. Does this protein most likely have a transmembrane domain? Is the larger portion inside the cell or outside the cell? Is there anything wrong with the...

Chem 1212 Lab Report on electrochemistry Electrochemistry When electrons transfer between reaction components in a redox reaction, we can harness the motion of the electrons to create a potential. Electrochemistry revolves around the separation of the two half-reactions in a redox reaction and establishing two different electrodes. This might involve physically separating the half-reactions or including a separator, such as a semi-permeable membrane or plastic dividers. With the reactions separated, the electrons will need to flow through the wire connecting...
