Answer #1

As there was no animal provided, I have randomly picked 1 mammal and 1 primate. Before this i would differentiate the traits that make primate different from mammal. Primates classified in taxonomic order primates in class mammalia under kingdom animalia. Primates adapted to live on trees, with larger brain, colored vision and dexterous hands (Ten fingers). Other features include:

  • Primates have forward facing eyes - An adaptation developed by primates living on trees, as compared to mammals like horses, bears etc. or eyes pointed in opposite direction. The forward facing eyes provides better stereoscopic vision important for depth perception.
  • Large cranial capacity.
  • Opposable thumbs - Thumbs held in opposite to attached finger for better grip.
  • Prehensile hands and feet - Hands and feet can grasp.
  • Fingernails - As compared to other mammals like dogs, cats etc. having claws, primates have comparatively flatter fingernails and tactile sensitive pads on digits.
  • Single pair of mammary glands - As opposed by other mammals eg. cats, pigs, rabbits etc. whose adult females have multiple pair of mammary glands.
  • Heterodont dentition - Different types teeth morphology present in primates like Incisors, canines, premolars and molars.
Primate Trait (Any one can ve chosen)
