1- Name two kinds of intentional torts that could result in damage to a business firm’s bottom line

the first kind of intentional Tort is defamation in which a person or another organization can harm the bottom line means profit of a person or company by saying wrong or false statement in Media or to customers like bad word of mouth. it comes under Slander and if organization or person write something bad which is false about any firm like Mcondalds sells months old food to customers which is not true but affected the sale and profit of Mcdonalds then it is called Libel.

second is Fraud or misrepresentation of financial statements which cause firm to lose profit. for example- a business is finding the investor like banks or other business for a project and firm misrepresent or change their accounts to make it profitable then investor invest their money and suffer loss after the project.

in all above there is clear intention and harm was done to party that is organization firm.

2- Name two kinds of intentional torts that are based on protection of a person’s property.

the first intentional tort is trespassing in which a person enters into another person's property without any authorization.for example- a person or student above 18 enters into a house and break all the things in the house to get revenge. this is intentional tort to person's property.

second is Nuisance in law, a human activity or a physical condition that is harmful or offensive to others and gives rise to a cause of action . for example- people showing movement and fire crackers in the middle of road or parks which can harm other person. this is like public nuisance. while in private nuisance, people do not violate or enter into other party property but can cause harm like emmitting poisnous gases which cause problem to neighbours , excessive music and noises etc.

3- Why are intentional torts more likely to result in a verdict not only for compensatory damages but also for punitive damages?

This is because Compensantory damage help injured party to get compensation for the injuries they have suffered but punitive damages teach defandant lessons that will stop their behavior and never attempt such tort or illegal acts in future again. Punitive damages are designed to punish a defendant and deter bad conduct. Unlike most compensatory damages for civil suits, the purpose of punitive damages is not to make the plaintiff whole, but to punish the defendant.
