As there is less population of predators, the population of prey will increase because there is great chance of their survival.

As prey population is high, now prey is easily available to predators due to the lage number of prey. Availability of food to predators is very high. Predators reproduce and increase their population until food became the limiting factor. Increased population of predators will now feed on prey population and prey population starts decreasing. Food is now not available to whole predator population and as a result predator population falls.

When predator population is falling prey population again starts increasing.

In this way this cycle goes on in nature.
