moles of CO2 = (53.28 g) / (44.01 g/mol)

moles of CO2 = 1.21 mol

moles of carbon = moles of CO2

moles of carbon = 1.21 mol

mass of carbon = (moles of carbon) * (molar mass of carbon)

mass of carbon = (1.21 mol) * (12.01 g/mol)

mass of carbon = 14.54 g

mass of soil sample = (mass of carbon) / (mass fraction of carbon)

mass of soil sample = (14.54 g) / (0.0362)

mass of soil sample = 401.65 g

density of soil sample = (mass of soil sample) / (volume of soil sample)

density of soil sample = (401.65 g) / (170 mL)

density of soil sample = 2.4 g/mL
