hydrology is the branch of science which deals with the study of water. it includes the study of its distribution on earth, movement, occurence, physical and chemical properties , its interaction with living system and change of phases.It plays great role in resolving water problems.
percolation is the phenomenon movement of liquid through filter. water percolation is known as rain water enters the underground by seeps and forms a underground water table.
Aquifer is a layer of rocks which allows movement of water and holds underground water. it is classified as confined - poorly permeable rocks and unconfined-highly permeable rocks.
ground water can be accessed through wells. wells are sources of water made by excavation of ground through drilling of ground. wells are formed from aquifers.
condensation is the process of change of water state from state to liquid state. the reversal of this process is known as evaporation in which the liquid state of water changes to vapour form with change in temperature.
likewise the liquid state of water acquires a solid state i.e, ice by freezing. it can be reversed by the technique of melting, at melting point changes to liquid i.e, water.
precipitation is the movement of water from atmosphere as solid(snow) or liquid(rainfall) falling to land surface by gravity.deserts are the region of dry area, covered with sands and rocks due to lack of rainfall. it is brought about by drought. it is the condition of low precipitation levels characterized by drop in water level in surface of land and underground.
on the contrary due to heavy rainfall, water overflows to dry area of land called floods and it is a natural disaster on account of overflow of water in land surfaces.
Xeriscape is the landscaping technique of conserving water by planting drought resistant plants.transpiration is the phenomenon, takes place in plants to remove excess amount of water released as water vapour. these drought resistant plants have decreased transpiration process to prevent loss of water.
erosion is the sediment depsition of residues of soil and rock. it may be due to water or any other agents.water erosion is mostly natural due to overflow of water. the contamination process known as pollution which is harmful to environment and water pollution affects the quality of water.
