Othering is that act of dividing the society based on class, race, gender, socila ethinicuty etc. Othering happen in the society when a particular section of people are being excluded to be the part of main stream society. It promote scoiety that favours the powerful and promote the idea of divsion of society.

Often time theology form the basics of this concept. In Bible the writings of St Paul is often quoted to degradewomen. the ideas and concepts that the Paul descriobed in 1st Centuary os still taken as relavant and is expained against women. The words of religious founders who had formed religion inlong back had explianed many concepts based on their cultural contexts. many of theologians expalin the same in the current senrion. It is an attempt to relive the concepts which age old. It can also seen in Islam when the women are denied freedom to a great extend.
