When an inductor is connected to a 60.0 Hz source it has an inductive reactance of 54.6 Ω. Determine the maximum current in the inductor (in A) if it is connected to a 45.0 Hz source that produces a 105 V rms voltage.
Given,
Reactance (xL)=54.6Ω
Frequency (f) = 60 Hz
Voitage ( v ) = 105 V
Frequency( f )= 45 Hz
Find the maximum current in the inductor ( Imax) .
Now ,
Inductor Reactance ( xL ) .
XL = 2πfL
54 .6 = 2π x (60.0 Hz)x L
L = 0.145 H
The maximum current in the inductor .
Imax= √2Vrms/2πfL
=√2*(105V)/2π*(45)(0.145)
= 3.626 A
> I figured it out. It should be sqrt(2) * V/(2*pi*f_2*L).
