a. Formation of IS2O83- in the above reaction i.e. step 1 is slowest step hence it is considered as rate setermining step.

The rate of reaction is given by

R = K [ S2O82- ]x [I-]y

b. Formation of I2 is a spontaneous reaction in the step 4 which also act as a catalyst in the entire reaction to be happen.

c. This a reaction which is catalysed by I2 in the reaction. The catalyst I2 is not present in the reaction untill it completes its first elementary step reaction. Then the second elementary step is catalysed by I2 and leads to formation of product I3-.
