Answer #1

1.). Total number of valence electrons in CS2 are 16

Total number of valence electrons are electrons carried by all elements in compound

Carbon being a central atom form two double bonds with Sulfur atoms.

Valence electrons of Carbon atom is 4 and valence electrons of Sulfur is 6

Thus Total Valence electrons are

CS2 = 4 + 2(6) = 16 electrons.

2). Total number of valence electrons of C are 8

Carbon has 4 valence electrons and 2 double bonds with Sulfur which will share total of 4 electrons .

Thus shared electrons also count in valence electrons.

C = 4+4 = 8 valence electrons.

3). Molecular geometry of CS2 is Linear Geometry.

3). b). Electronic Geometry of CS2 is Linear Geometry because there is no lone pair present on Central atom Carbon.

4). There are 4 electron group around central atom Carbon

5). There are no lone pair present on Central Carbon atom.

    2. Knowing that the groups of electrons around the central atom affect the molecule shape, how do you think this will affect the interactions between two molecules called intermolecular interactions? For simple compounds the singular atom will be in the center with the others arranged around it. Attach each bonded atom...
