Answer #1

An anion ( example I- ) has more electrons than in its neutral atom but it has same number of protons. So electrons feel a weak force of attraction from nucleus , also there is electrostatic repulsion between electrons . These factors results in increased atomic radii of anion.

While a cation (Al+2) has less electrons than in its neutral atom but number of protons are same . So force of attraction between nucleus and electrons is more which result in decreased atomic radii or size of cation.

Atoms or ions in order of decreasing size:

Mg > Al > Al+3

Across the period atomic size decreases, due to increase in nuclear charge.

I- > Cl- > F-

Down the group, atomic size increases due to addition of shells

I- > I > Xe

Across the period, size decreases so 'I' is bigger in size than Xe. Anion size is always bigger than its neutral atom.

just one example/demonstration! Data needed to be calculated is in highlighted in green boxes. And I highlighted in red an equation (not sure if thats what you use to calculate it) And ignore the lab instructions on completeing a graph!! I already know how to do that in excel, just curious how Ln (relative rate) and 1/T in K^-1 is calculated by hand* here is the rest of that lab leading up to the question as I know its typically...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
