ANSWER

Nitric acid (HNO3) is a strong acid and so it is completely dissociates in water into H+ and NO3-. Nitric acid is fall under mineral acid category. Since HNO3 is a monoprotic strong acid, one mole of HNO3 gives one mole of H+ ions.

The molarity of HNO3 = 3.4 \times 10-2. The molarity becomes the [H+] concentration of 3.4\times10-2.

The formula to find the pH is -log[H+]

Therefore, pH = -log[3.4\times10-2] = 1.468 = 1.5 (rounded value)

So, option (d) is correct.

pH = 1.5
