True or False and why?

The main reason why combustion of carbon monoxide in air is feasible, while in pure O2 it is not, is the presence of very reactive N radicals in air.

False. The oxygen present in air is not combustible. Oxygen is a very good oxidant but for cumbustion we need a reductant. While thinking of a reductant nitrogen strikes our mind. The reaction between oxygen and nitrogen to form nitrogen oxides is thermodinamically favored. But the atmospheric nitrogen is so stable (because of it's triple bond) that it doesn't react with oxygen. This is the reason why O2 is not combustible in air. ( there is no role of N radicals , N radicals are only formed during lightening)
