Answer #1

a) NH4NO2

It is a salt of weak base and weak acid. So, its nature depends on Ka and Kb values.

Ka of HNO2 = 4.5 x10^-4

Kb of NH4OH = 1.8 x10^-5

Ka is greater than Kb .

So, this is acidic in nature. PH <7

b) Ca(OCl)2

It is a salt of strong base Ca(OH)2 and weak acid HOCl.

So, it is basic in nature. PH >7

c) KF

It is a salt of strong base KOH and weak acid HF.

So, it is basic in nature. PH>7

d) KCl

It is a salt of strong base KOH and strong acid HCl

So, it is neutral in nature . PH=7

e) NaNO3

It is a salt of strong base NaOH and strong acid HNO3.

S0, it is neutral in nature. PH=7

acidic ---------------- NH4NO2

basic --------------   Ca(OCl)2 , KF

neutral --------------   KCl and NaNO3.
