Answer #1

In the below diagram, during the absorption, the system is in its lowest energy state i.e. ground state (n=0). Lowest energy of ground state is represented as lowest vibrational level as \nu =0. Upon absorption of a photon the system occupies excited state (n=1). The molecule then deexcited to its lowest vibrational state of the excited state i.e n=1 and \nu =0. This is called vibrational relaxation and donot contribute in emission spectra. Though, this serves as the spectral shift between absorption and emission spectra. Thereafter, the molecule deexcites via emission of light to various vibrational levels of ground state followed by vibrational relaxations. Thus, multiple spectral lines may appear for single absorption line in a given system. The diagram shows three such lines.

Now though, you need to answer the same questions diagrammatically as I did in lecture. See your lecture notes. You need to indicate absorption, say from a lower energy level to a higher energy level. Then indicate emission for the same transition as through various pathways, which would then result in many more emission peaks than was in the original absorption (transition). Materials Notice the single arrow signifying complete dissociation Consider an HCl solution withe concentration of 2.5.10-5M After dissociation...

Name Lab Day circled: Mon. Tues. AM Tues, PM Wed Thurs. Fri. Prelaboratory Exercise for the Atomic Emission and Absorption Experiment The spectroscopes used in our lab are scaled in nanometer units. You will work with three of the four possible Balmer series transitions of Hydrogen whose lines are in the visible region of the electromagnetie spectrum. Electrons absorb energy from n-2 level and depending on how much energy is absorbed, they are excited to different higher energy levels. From...

In the last assignment, you created a card class. Modify the card class so the setValue() method does not allow a card’s value to be less than 1 or higher than 13. If the argument to setValue() is out of range, assign 1 to the card’s value. You also created a PickTwoCards application that randomly selects two playing cards and displays their values. In that application, all card objects were arbitrarily assigned a suit represented by a single character, but...
