The Lincoln index is a statistical measure used in several fields to estimate the number of cases that have not yet been observed,based on two independent sets of observed cases . Described br FREDERICK CHARLES LINCOLN in 1930 .it is also sometimes known as the LINCOLN -PETERSON METHOD.

FORMULA-

N=n1*n2/m

where N=total estimated population

n1=number captured and marked.=30

n2=total number recaptured=20

m=number marked specimen in recaptured sample=10

Applying the above values,we get

N=30*20/10

N=60

therefore,the turtle population size =60.
