1. Examples of Surface active excipients:

1. Ophthalmic excipients (in liquid form)-

· It has been observed that some ophthalmic drugs can be used as ophthalmic excipients.

· These ophthalmic excipients, when introduced as surface active agents an enhanced corneal permeation was observed.

2. Surface excipients in solid form:

· The drug may be incorporated with ad-mixture of surface active proteins, which helps in easy release and penetration.

· The surface active protein may be incorporated on the surface coating such as of capsules.

· One of the best applications is in case of suppositors.
