Lichens are a complex form of life which is a symbiotic relationship of two separate organisms, a fungus and an alga. New studies shows that they include at least 3 different organisms

One of the study was done in a collaboration between the University of Alberta and Uppsala University in Sweden. The summarised that individual lichens may contain up to three different fungi. Their evidence provided new insight into another recent discovery that showed lichen are made up of more than a single fungus and alga, which overturns the prevailing theory of more than 150 years.
