Vitamin D-resistance rickets is a genetic condition inherited as X- inked. Thus, a single gene is enough to express the phenotype.

The gene for affected male is XvY.

The gene for unaffected male XY.

The gene for affected female is XvX or XvXv.

The gene for unaffected female is XX.

If the father is affected then it will be XvY and the mother is unaffected then it will be XX.

Thus, the cross will give

Xv Y
X XvX XY
X XvX XY

a) Normal son = 100%

b) Normal daughter = 0%

c) Son with Vitamin D-resistance rickets = 0%

d) Daughter with Vitamin D-resistance rickets = 100%
