In an experiment, you need to create 275 mL of a 1M solution. You have 2L of a 5M stock solution. Calculate how much stock solution you would need to mix with water to make a 1M solution.You would take mL of the 5M stock solution in a flask and add mL of distilled water.Answers should be numerical (eg, 1, not one)

Answer #1

M1v1=m2v2

M1 =molarity of working solution= 1 M

V1 = volume of working solution = 275 ml

M2 = molarity of stock solution = 5 M

V2 = volume of stock solution needed to make the 1M working solution = x

V2= x = m1v1/ M2

=( 1* 275 ) / 5

= 275/5

= 55ml

Volume of stock solution needed to prepare the 1mole working solution = 55ml

55ml of 5M stock solution + 220 ml of distilled water

= 275 ml of 1M working solution
