51. The assertions that monocots are simpler and their fossil is older only indicates their origin before the eudicots. However recently discovered fossilized eudicot pollen on fossilized insects is proved to be older than monocot evolution and origin. So the correct answer is (C).

52.All the options given here for the success of angiosperms are partially true. They are better pollinated, attractive colours tend to attract more insects and there is a high chance of fertilization every time. Moreover angiosperms are loved by humans and are cultivated so much. Functionally, the most important aspect of success is (C) pollination and internal fertilization are very successful.

53. phytoplanktons inhabit the upper surface of the ocean because of availability of light for photosynthesis, which won't be possible in deeper ocean. So the correct answer is (B) deeper underwater photosynthesis would fail.
