Both binding mode and chemical catalysis

During covalent catalysis ( a concept under chemical catalysis), the substrate forms a temporary (transient) covalent bond with residues present in the active site of the enzyme and facilitates the decrease in energy of the later transitional states of the chemical reaction.

Binding mode catalysis works through proximity effect and transition state stabilization.
