Answer #1

Answer (1) :- (B) represents the lysogenic cycle of the phage.

Because in lysogenic cycle phages do not cause death ( lysis) of the host cell when they multiply.

In the lysogenic cycle the phage DNA gets incorporated into the host cell's DNA and the host cell multiplies indefinitely along with phage nucleic acid.

Answer(2) :- The structure denoted by the number 3 is the ribosome.

Function:- Ribosome play a significant role in protein synthesis.

Answer (3) :- The structure denoted by the number 5 is the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum.

The Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum contains ribosome attached with its membranes. Due to ribosome containing their wall is rough.

Function :-The Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum plays a major role in protein synthesis because of the presence of ribosome.

Unit 3 Study Resource Meiosis • Process by which diploid cells create haploid cells NOT part of the cell cycle > only some cells ever undergo meiosis During meiosis I, homologous chromosomes line up to allow them to be separated into two new cells o They can become "tangled" during this phase, which leads to crossing-over (rearranging the alleles) O Result of meiosis I is two non-identical haploid cells Meiosis Il looks very similar to mitosis, in that sister chromatids...

A cell's genome is its blueprint for life. However, what is the bare minimum number of genes needed to sustain a free-living cell? This is a question that microbiologists at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) have attempted to answer ever since they sequenced the genomes of several Mycoplasma species in the 1990s. Because Mycoplasma species are parasitic bacteria, their genomes are already reduced in size and hence provide an excellent foundation for creating a "minimal cell." However, little did...
