Question 36

Answer: Bacteriophages (virus infects bacteria) that can enter into stable, long term relationships with their hosts are called temperate phages. They can choose between lysogenic and lytic pathways. In lysogenic pathway, temperate phages remain in the host untill induction for lytic cycle. Hence, option e is the correct answer. Virulent phage are lytic phages that lysis the host cell and are virulent. So, option a and c are incorrect. Retrovirus are single stranded RNA virus that infect humans and animals. Provirus are prophages that integrates its DNA in to host cell. Hence, option b and d are incorrect.

Question 37:

Answer: Phenetic classification is method to classify organisms based on the similarities, sepcifically morphological, biochemical, cultural and other observable traits. Hence, cell shape, gram staining, nutrient pattern and relationship wih oxygen are used in phenetic classification of organisms. It does not involve classification based on phylogentic relationship (DNA) or evolution of organisms. Hence, the option c is the correct answer and others are incorrect.

Question 38:

Answer: Eukarya consists of protists, plantae, fungi and animalia. Hence, the option a is incorrect and the correct answer for box A is option c, Eukarya. Viruses are neither prokarya nor eukarya and bacteria is prokaryotic and belongs to Monera. So, options b, d and e are incorrect.

Question 39:

Answer: Eukarya consists of protists, plantae, fungi and animalia. Hence, option a is the correct answer.
